The “Married to another Man” Story

The anti-Zionist potential inherent in “The bride is beautiful, but she is married to another man” stories has made them irresistible to certain writers and accounts for much of their literary popularity, despite a lack of historical authenticity. Though the stories lack a primary source and no basis has emerged for treating them as historical events that occurred during the early years of the Zionist movement, different versions continue to appear in many books and articles.
